Blog Ping List: Avoid been marked as a Spammer

A few months ago I increased my WordPress ping list to try and get as much exposure as possible. I did some Internet research and according to me compiled the magic ping list.

What a mistake! I have not done my research properly and used information from old out of date blogs.

With time I realized no more traffic is coming from Technorati, Icerocket etc. When investigating why not I discovered the most obvious reason is that I have been marked as a spammer.

Why? My magic list included Ping-o-matic and Pinggoat.

Ping-o-matic pings:

Blo.gs, Blogdigger, Bloglines, BlogRolling, BlogStreet, Collecta, Feed Burner, Google Blog Search, Icerocket, Moreover, My Yahoo, News Is Free, NewsGator, PostRank, PubSub.com, SkyGrid, Spinn3r, Syndic8, Technorati, Topic Exchange, Weblogalog and Weblogs.

Pinggoat pings:

Blo.gs, Blogdigger, Blogmatcher, Blogpeople, Blogrolling, Blogstreet, Bulkfeeds, Catapings, Coreblog, Effbot, Feedburner, Feedster, Focuslook, Holycowdude, Icerocket, Moreover, My Yahoo, Newsgator, News Is Free, Octora, Pubsub, Syndic8, Technorati, Topicexchange, Weblogs and Weblogs.se.

So?

Blo.gs, Blogdigger, BlogRolling, BlogStreet, Feed Burner, Icerocket, Moreover, My Yahoo, News Is Free, NewsGator, PubSub.com, Syndic8, Technorati, Topic Exchange and Weblogs.com are pinged twice if Ping-o-matic and Pinggoat are in the list. To put the cherry on the cookie some of them were listed again separately in my now infamous “magic list”, which means they will be pinged a third time. Looks like the change of me being branded as a spammer is very good.

I changed my “magic list” to…
