SSL Installation Made Easy
Awhile ago when Google start mentioning that non-secure sites will be penalised and flagged in Google Chrome, I looked at installing SSL root certificates.
For years, Google has been actively seeking ways to encourage website owners to implement SSL certificates. SSL allows websites to be accessed over HTTPS, which encrypts information sent between the visitor and web server.
As an Internet Marketer who likes to be on top of the Tech stuff I tried to change this site of mine to HTTPS. I bought the SSL certificate and followed various instructions to install it. All seemed to be fine until you try to access the site!
Browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer gave security warnings the moment you open the site. You could opt to tell the browsers that the site is safe and from then onwards there was no problem on that specific computer / device. However, it could have had a huge negative effect on visitors to my site.
After days of trying to solve the problem I gave up and reverted back to HTTP for the time being while doing more research.
Eventually I found a system to solve my problem. I installed the SSL on this site flawlessly (within 15 minutes) – all browsers happy. Afterwards, I just needed to solve a few small site issues with insecure content (images, links) to get it 100%.
To check the SSL certificate and site installation I ran a test recommended by Google at Qualys SSL Labs and my site got an “A” rating!
I then used this system to install SSL certificates on my clients’ websites within a few hours – a task that would have taken me days if I tried to do it manually. I also decided to implement the system as a service to my readers who might go through the same pain I did. It all happens with a few clicks and is fully automated – what a joy!
